Project Description
This webinar is an update on where we are currently, six months on from the launch of the government’s road safety strategy, covering:
- The recently-launched Wales Road Safety Strategy, drawing out key themes, opportunities, and challenges in embedding Safe System principles at a national and local level.
- The new Roads Policing Investment Programme, with an outline of how enhanced capability and coordination are expected to support enforcement and casualty reduction outcomes.
- The role of fleet and the opportunity for forward-thinking private sector operators to press ahead with implementation. We will explore how commercial fleets can use data, operational leadership, and evidence-led interventions to strengthen safety performance and support wider road safety objectives.
- Speed management, evolving thinking on speed limit setting and the role of evidence-led approaches. Contributions will reflect current practice and emerging insights, including international perspectives alongside practical delivery examples.
- Rural road safety, with learning from the DfT Rural Roads Project and discussion around appropriate rural speed limit setting and the growing interest in rural 20mph zones.
The webinar will conclude with a forward-looking panel discussion, exploring priorities for the next six months and identifying the key levers needed to maintain delivery momentum across the system.
